The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Centre following a plea to establish an independent enquiry committee to investigate the alleged paper leak and other irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam. Scheduled for July 8, the case stems from concerns raised on June 18 by the Court, emphasizing zero tolerance for negligence in conducting the exam. Justices S.V. Bhatti and Vikram Nath of a Vacation Bench stressed accountability from the NTA, urging transparency in addressing any mistakes. The NEET-UG, which accommodated over 24 lakh candidates across numerous centers, has been under scrutiny amidst broader concerns over exam integrity, leading to the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam by the Education Ministry on June 19.
