Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar, situated near the ancient ruins of the renowned institution.
Prior to unveiling a commemorative plaque and planting a sapling at the site, PM Modi explored the historic remnants of Nalanda University. The archaeological site, declared a UNESCO Heritage Site in 2016, features diverse structures like stupas and viharas, showcasing art forms in stucco, stone, and metal.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 1,749 crore, the new campus boasts modern amenities including two academic blocks with 40 classrooms, auditoriums seating 300 each, and a hostel for 550 students.
The campus, designed as a ‘Net Zero’ Green Campus, emphasizes sustainability with solar plants, water treatment facilities, and extensive water bodies across 100 acres.
