Women vendors from Khwairamband Ima Market in Manipur staged a powerful protest rally and sit-in demanding an immediate resolution to the year-long conflict in the region. Organized by the Khwairamband Ima Market Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, the protest called for discussions on the Manipur crisis during the ongoing Lok Sabha session.
Despite encountering resistance from security forces near M-Sector, about 1 km from the Chief Minister’s residence, the protesters regrouped at the market to continue their sit-in. Key demands included stopping the violence, rejecting separate administrative divisions, and ensuring protection for village volunteers. Huirem Binodini, Co-Convenor of the committee, stressed the urgency of addressing the crisis at the national level, urging the central government to intervene impartially to bring peace to Manipur.
